A busy Week 3

Wow! What a busy week! Even though we didn’t have an excursion this week, it was really busy. We have a routine now. Monday and Thursday we have success groups to start the day. Tuesday we play sports. In the afternoons we have been preparing for the July 4 celebration and for the farewell show. The kids have been working really hard.

This week, we added a few extra opportunities to learn. Lindsey offered a crochet class. Loïc and Évie offered a cooking class. I offered a photography class. The photo students are going to go on a “photo safari” tomorrow after activities to “capture” photos. I’ll post some of those images to the blog next time.

Friday was bowling night at “Le Master” lanes. This is such a fun activity! The families and the students all come together and just have a flat out good time. There are tons of laughs and a lot of smack talk in French!

On Saturday, we offered a bike ride tour of Brest. (Big thanks to Lindsey for organizing it.) About half the students chose to participate. It was really great. We got to see parts of Brest we don’t see every day. And we got to see some beautiful sites like the Jardin des Explorateurs and the Phare (lighthouse) at the porte de la grande rivière.

We anticipated this week to be kind of a down week, but the students and the teachers have been just as busy as any other!
They play this game they call "Ninja." I don't understand it,
but they really like it.

Joseph has no fear.
However, it seems that Alec and Sam have a bit of fear.

Nichole has mad skills

Who knew Delores was a killer soccer player?

Go Sam!

Some of us prefer Frisbee!

If you wear sandals, soccer is not a good idea -
but Frisbee is!

Mixing it up

Watch out for Kelsey!

Sydney takes the ball down toward the goal.

Delores again!

It's the quiet ones you have to
watch out for.

Sophie: "Alec, now is NOT the time to take a break!"

You big, dumb boys just get out of my way!

Sam is working on his BD (comic strip) for the magazine.

Our own Édith Piaf

These girls are going to make the French people cry at the
farewell show. They're singing "La vie en rose."

Crochet is easy, right?

Okay, everyone knows where they go at this point, right?

The cooking class made crèpes and mousse!

Tandem bowling.

Mari celebrates a gutter ball.

Her best side?

Jazlyn helps her French little sister.

Yes, I'm good.

Chris Paul has nothing on Micah!

I thought we were here to bowl.

Rosie strikes!

BFFs!

These are Sydney's French sisters, Amandine the oldest,
Amélie the middle and Valentine the youngest. These
girls are everyone's favorite!

That's right, Sophie got a strike!

I don't think Nick did.

But it sure looks like Grace did.

Nichole will take eight, that's good for the first ball.

I should never have talked smack. It always makes me
bowl worse.

No one saw that, right?

Nothing like being criticized by a
four year old.

Marilynne Mével, one of the host moms
found us on Saturday. We stopped occasionally
to figure out where we were. (Zoom in.)
This is the morning bike ride group. We rode hard and had fun.

I had no idea how to do a selfie on my i-phone,
so Mari took over.

Rain or shine, Brest and Bretagne are beautiful, but I really love it in the sun.
These are the June birthday kids. Bruno made an ice-cream cake!
